The thank you bit:

The one-off visitors to the Oasis have always come and gone, but the number of travellers who have decided to bide a while has been steadily increasing over the past year. Today, the nice people at Feedburner tell me we have just broken 600 RSS subscribers.

Thank you all for stopping by, you are the energy behind this little blog and it is your comments, links and emails that continually stretch my horizons. Thank you for everything, I hope you’re enjoying the tagine, the dates, and the shady palms here at the Oasis.

The useful bit:
For those of you who drop by every now and again from a bookmark in your browser, may I recommend that you try the RSS thingie [that’s a technical term!] over in the sidebar. Yes, it’s a subscription; but no, it doesn’t cost you anything. If you are a reader of any site that has an RSS button displayed, you can save yourself many fruitless hours of clicking and waiting merely by subscribing to that site’s ‘feed’ – for free and with total privacy – in an RSS Reader.

I use Google Reader to keep track of the 250 sites and feeds that I peruse on a regular basis. I can’t imagine how much time that would take me if I had to click through to all those sites on an individual basis.
