My five golden rules for effective meetings:

  • All meetings must have a purpose. No purpose, no meeting.
  • All meetings must have an agenda – contributed to, agreed and circulated in advance.
  • Only people who NEED to be there should be there – no passengers.
  • All meetings should be conducted standing up.
  • All meetings should be scheduled to last 10-20 minutes, but will last as long as they need to achieve their stated purpose.
